Faith Begins One Step at a Time

Deepen your faith and navigate life's challenges with grace.

So, you’re new to faith? First of all—welcome! 🎉 Whether you’re here because you’re curious, searching for something deeper, or just trying to figure out this whole “relationship with God” thing, I’m so glad you found your way here.

I know how overwhelming it can feel at first. The Bible is a big book, and prayer can seem intimidating. Let’s be honest—some people make it sound like you need a theology degree just to get started. But let me tell you something upfront: following Jesus isn’t about having it all figured out—it’s about taking one step at a time, trusting God, and growing along the way.

Where Do I Even Start?

Great question! Here’s a simple roadmap to help you begin.

1. Start with the Bible (It’s Not as Scary as It Looks!)

The Bible is God’s way of speaking to us, and while it might feel intimidating at first, you don’t have to read it all at once or understand everything right away. (Trust me, even lifelong Christians are still learning new things.)

A great place to start?
📖 The Gospel of John – It’s all about Jesus—who He is, what He did, and what that means for you.
📖 Psalms & Proverbs – These books are like gold if you need encouragement or wisdom for daily life.

Pro Tip: You don’t have to read entire chapters; just a few verses with a quiet moment to reflect can be powerful.

"Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path." (Psalm 119:105, WEB)

2. How Do I Pray? (Spoiler: There’s No “Right” Way!)

Prayer is just talking to God. Seriously. No fancy words are required. You don’t need a script or a perfect formula—just honesty.

If you’re not sure where to start, here’s a simple guide:

🙏 Praise – Thank God for who He is (even if all you can say is “Thank You for today”).
🙏 Repent – Be honest about mistakes and ask for forgiveness.
🙏 Ask – Bring your worries, needs, and struggles to Him.
🙏 Yield – Take a deep breath and trust that He’s got this.

And if you’re still stuck, here’s a prayer you can say right now:

"God, I don’t have all the answers, but I want to know You. Help me take the next step and guide me as I learn to follow You. Amen."

"Call to me, and I will answer you, and will show you great and mighty things, which you don’t know." (Jeremiah 33:3)

3. What If I Have Doubts?

You will have questions. You will have moments where things don’t make sense. Guess what? That doesn’t mean you’re doing it wrong.

Faith isn’t about never having doubts—it’s about trusting God even when you don’t have all the answers. If you keep seeking, He’ll show up—every time.

"You shall seek me and find me, when you search for me with all your heart." (Jeremiah 29:13)

4. Need Help Growing in Your Faith?

You don’t have to do this alone! I’ve created a free resource to help you meditate on God’s Word and connect with Him more deeply. You can download it here: Rest in His Word.

Final Thoughts

Your faith journey won’t be perfect, and that’s okay. God isn’t looking for perfect people—He’s looking for open hearts. So take a deep breath, keep seeking Him, and trust that He’s walking with you every step of the way.

And if you ever feel lost or stuck, remember that every strong faith journey starts with a single step.

You’ve got this. More importantly—God’s got you.
